Mold flow FAQ
Is Mold flow accurate ?
Yes, Mold flow has been proven many thousands of times on a wide range of products and materials. If there is a problem it is usually a human error, and the classic example is a poor CAD to Mold flow conversion. Our simulation FEA models are prepared by experts in their field and measure up to the highest quality standard.
The part designer’s perspective - Designers don’t like to compromise their design ideas to make allowance for shortcomings in manufacturability. They need a tool that helps them determine the best material for their part, lowers part production costs and predicts any visible part blemishes and defects such as warpage and shrinkage. The ability to communicate key design analysis information and exchange electronic files with the tool maker and manufacturer can only help assure that parts are produced correctly the first time.
The tool maker’s perspective - Tool makers cannot afford to build a mold that does not produce an acceptable part and will avoid costly mold rework. With increasing tool complexity, time pressures and ever rising steel prices, tool makers can no longer afford the traditional trial-and-error model, nor can they afford an analysis and simulation tool that will provide an ‘approximation’ of the desired injection molding process.
Speed and accuracy are primordial concerns.
The best way to optimize the plastic part design-to-manufacturing process is to enable users to evaluate every design iteration for both manufacturability and part quality BEFORE a single inch of steel is cut.
The manufacturer’s perspective – Injection molders want to work with mold and part designs that have been analyzed and validated to ensure the production of high quality parts that are optimized to their manufacturing capabilities.
Our plastics consulting business has a primary focus on the injection molding industry and specialize in Plastics Simulation for Manufacturing Analysis, Materials, Product Design & Development and our customer base includes custom molders, tool and moldmakers, automotive manufacturers, white goods manufacturers, medical and pharmaceutical manufacturers and product design development organizations.
